Chortle

One of my local bars, a place called Fire & Ice, caught fire this evening and had to be hosed down by the fire brigade.

I find this pleasingly apt.

Valentine’s Day mystery

I received an anonymous Valentine’s Day card today and now I’m puzzled. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m feeling all warm inside and just a little bit special too, but I’m still puzzled.

The reason I’m puzzled is that I can’t figure out who actually likes me enough to send me a Valentine’s Day card. It isn’t from my mother - you can save yourself the effort of writing that comment out before you begin - and I doubt it’s from any of my friends. I mean they like me, sure, they’re my friends. But I don’t think any of them like me in that specific way that gives rise to a valentine. So who’s it from?

More importantly, why’s it anonymous? I mean, it isn’t as though I have another half and putting a name on the card would make life awkward for anyone. Not unless they have another half and putting their name on the card would make life awkward for them. That’s a possibility I suppose…

Even so, what’s the worst that could happen?

Well, thinking about it, all the mystery and romance could be sucked out of the scenario and an existing relationship could be left in tatters, devoid of all trust. Still, it’d be nice to know who it’s from; unrequited affection can be a double edged sword.

Anyway, whoever you are, thank you for the card, it’s made my day, and happy Valentine’s.

Like some sort of Phoenix

Well that was fun wasn’t it? Nearly a month of downtime because I’m too poor (and also too stupid) to sort it out. But all is now well. I’m back, the site’s back, and I’ve stories to tell.

Not right now however, I’m at work.

Still, I’ve been skiing, bought an amazing hat, gone to the zoo, taken some photographs and moved into a much bigger room where I can spread out and continue building my library. Oh the adventures I have to share with you.

Later.

Tonight probably.

Kisses.
