James - Ring the Bells

Ring, ring the bells,
Wake the town,
Everyone is sleeping.
Shout at the crowd,
Wake them up,
This anger’s deeper than sleep.

Got to keep awake to what is happening,
I can’t see a thing through my ambition,
I no longer feel my God is watching over me.
Got to tell the world we’ve all been dreaming,
This is not the end, a new beginning,
I no longer feel my God is watching over me.

Break, break the code,
Concentrate,
Let the doors swing open.
See through all your walls,
All your floors,
Now you’re in deeper than sleep.

Got to keep awake to what is happening,
I can’t see a thing through my ambition,
I no longer feel my God is watching over me.
Got to tell the world we’ve all been dreaming,
This is not the end, a new beginning,
I no longer feel my God is watching over me.

When you let me fall,
Grew my own wings,
Now I’m as tall as the sky.
When you let me drown,
Grew gills and fins,
Now I’m as deep as the sea.
When you let me die,
My spirit’s free,
There’s nothing challenging me.

Ace.

Imagination

ImaginationI’m resigned to the fact that my neurons and synapses fire off on their own accord and tend to live a completely separate life of their own, unencumbered by any form of rational process or accountability. It really isn’t so bad; there are worse things to put up with than intermittent depression and a tendency to create clichéd worlds in your head.

In a way I’m grateful for it; so many people seem to lose their imagination as they grow up, they become unwilling to embrace the fantastical and fun. Though, obviously you can go too far and begin claiming you’re a druid or, in my mother’s case, a clairvoyant. Well, I say claiming; claiming is going a bit far, but informing people you ‘do readings’ and can see spirits is pushing the boundaries of reality a little in my opinion.

Still, if it makes her happy.

My problem isn’t belief, indeed I’m somewhat devoid of faith in the existence of things that I can’t see or touch or taste or feel. No. My problem is desire, a quiet longing for the worlds of my imagination to – well, exist. It’s not an unhealthy desire, I don’t actively seek to bring them about or dress up at the weekend and call people sire, nor ask thee, prithee, where art thine robes of ermine fine. I’m not a nutter. Not yet. I do however; spend a lot of time amusing myself with worlds that aren’t real when I should be spending more time focusing upon this one.

Is too much imagination a bad thing?

Just fuck off

Tiny-minded, hyper-sensitive idiots. I realise that they probably need jobs too, when they’re not being offended by the entire fucking world, but do they really need jobs that make life for the rest of us a tiny bit shitter, day by day?

It’s a fucking nonsense.

You can prove anything with statistics

For example, I can prove that the government are taking the piss.

Those in power really do live in a fucking dream world, don’t they?

I just don’t understand

Girl stabbed in ‘frenzied’ attack

A 14-year-old girl is critically ill after she was repeatedly stabbed in a “frenzied” and unprovoked attack.

Police are warning people in Chorley, Lancashire, to take extra precautions until the offender has been caught.

Jessica Knight was found with multiple wounds by a passer-by in the town’s Astley Park on Monday afternoon.

She was given first aid at the scene and taken to Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, where she underwent four hours of surgery.

Officers have said the attack was “frenzied” and are appealing for witnesses to help piece together events leading up to the attack.

They have cordoned off a large area of the park, which is a popular spot with dog walkers and is also used as a thoroughfare by local people.

It is set in Astley Village, an affluent area north of Chorley which has council offices on one side and sheltered housing on the other.

Jessica had gone into the park at about 1700 GMT, after she had been seen on CCTV cameras at a shop in Astley Village.

Police said members of the public heard screams and at about 1714 GMT a cyclist found her unconscious and “covered in blood” near Astley Hall, about 80m (262ft) from Hallgate Road.

Det Supt Steve Brunskill, of Lancashire Police, said: “This is a particularly nasty assault on a defenceless young girl.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the Astley Village or Astley Park area between 1630 and 1730 GMT yesterday to contact the incident room at Chorley.

“We have a couple of people in the buildings surrounding the scene who have overheard some screams - other than that, we do not have any witnesses.

“I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour or who has noticed anything in the area recently that has aroused their suspicion.

“At this early stage of the investigation we are unsure of the motive and would urge people in the area to take precautions for their own safety until this dangerous offender, or offenders, are caught.”

Officers are with Jessica’s family at hospital and are waiting to speak to the teenager to try to find out what happened.

Mr Brunskill added: “She underwent an awful lot of surgery and she was in a bad way. She is stable now.”

He said there was nothing in her background to suggest a motive and it was not a sex attack.

“The family are very distressed. As far as we are aware, this is a perfectly normal, happy child. It’s mind-boggling how this can occur in this area,” he said.

Extra officers, including mounted police, are currently on patrol in the area.

Police will also be visiting local schools, and a mobile police station will be set up in the Astley Village area.

Jessica was wearing a black hooded jacket with fur lining, blue jeans and white trainers when she was attacked.

Jean McGrath, head of Parklands High School in Chorley, said Jessica was “a lovely, hard working girl”.

“I spoke to all our pupils today telling them of the incident, thinking and praying for Jessica and reminding them to be extra vigilant with regard to their own safety,” she said.

Laura Lennox, a councillor with Astley Parish Council, said: “It’s not a path I would use on my own at night. It is very tragic that this should happen.”

This bit of depression was brought to you by the BBC: Source.

I don’t get it; I don’t think I ever will, but why do people do things like this? What is there to gain, what purpose does it serve to stab a fourteen year-old girl over thirty times? I don’t think I’m being naïve, in fact I’m sure I’m not, I just don’t understand why anyone would do something like this. Ever.

I don’t understand how anyone could do it.

I guess some people must just be broken inside.

*sigh*

I have not received emails from xxxx@xxxx.org.uk my daughter’s work email.

I don’t know how to tell them that they never will either, because this is work, where work happens and they’ve logged the call in the form of a statement rather than a question. It’s these little details that combine to make me wonder why I’m wasting my time here instead of exploring the world.

Then I remember it’s about money and a little part of me dies forever.

Black cloud

I wake up in the morning, and it’s dark.
I cycle to work, it’s still dark.
I sit in the office working and, while I can’t enjoy it, it’s light.
Then I cycle home and it’s dark again.
In the evening, I have a few precious hours to myself in which to do something fun and exciting and it’s fucking dark! Dark, dark, dark.

Roll on summer.
