Being bereft of ovaries, it is highly unlikely that I’m ever going to experience the pain of childbirth – something for which I am eternally thankful – or the curious sensation of important things… ripping. Frankly, I can’t even begin to imagine the reality of going through that.
Monday however, saw me on the receiving end of the closest equivalent male pain when one of the lads I play football with hammered a shot right in to my groin. And I mean right in to. This, as any man will tell you, causes the world to stop spinning on its axis and the universe to end for an indeterminate period of time.
It still hurts, which isn’t a good way to start a Saturday.
